I am always going to have a soft spot for historic wedding venues. This is your chance to toast to the future while standing in a place rooted in the past. While Denver has so many amazing gems around the city, nothing compares to a Grant Humphreys Mansion wedding! As a Colorado wedding photographer, I get the chance to tour a lot of amazing venues all across the state. Here’s what you can expect from this manor.
770 Pennsylvania Street, Denver, Colorado 80203
Grant Humphreys Mansion wedding venue was built in 1902 for the third governor of Colorado, James Benton Grant, and his wife, Mary Goodell Grant. In 1917, the house gained its next namesake when Mary sold the home to the Humphreys, the family responsible for opening Denver’s first airport. For the next 50 years, the house would host parties so lavish it felt like a page straight out of “The Next Great American Dynasty.” Eventually, the house was sold to the Colorado Historical Society to ensure residents could continue to enjoy it for future soirees.
While you are going to be right in the heart of the city for your wedding, you won’t feel the need to leave the Grant Humphreys Mansion estate throughout the day. The venue offers on-site dressing suites on the second level where you and your partner can gather with your wedding parties and get ready. Once it’s time for your ceremony, you will have several options. If you prefer an outdoor wedding, you can use the neoclassical portico right next to the open park. You can also use the nearby pergola surrounded by flowers and trees. For those who would prefer an intimate indoor wedding, the Main Floor can be closed off so you can create your ideal floor plan.
For your cocktail hour, you can open up the pergola where your guests can grab a drink before taking a stroll across this beautiful space. You can also use the Main Floor for this portion.
Your party will conclude with a reception in The Ballroom. This extraordinary area offers you plenty of space for dancing as well as a red-carpeted staircase where you can make the grandest of entrances. With this venue, you can accommodate up to 180 seated guests.
Trust me, Grant Humphreys Mansion is going to have so many fabulous spots for your wedding portraits. One of my favorite spots is the balcony overlooking the yard. From group portraits to intimate kisses, it’s there for it all! I also love the attached park, where you can head and take pictures surrounded by greenery. And if you need a good spot for your individual portraits, the furniture around the house gives you a sophisticated spot to show off your look.
As far as accommodations go, Grant Humphreys Mansion has your wedding covered! For your catering, you will choose from a list of preferred vendors. For your drinks, you can BYOB, but you will have to have a licensed server. They are going to provide you with the tables, chairs, sound systems, and decor. The venue is pet-friendly and wheelchair-accessible, and there’s parking on-site.
If you are looking for a historic space for your wedding day, Grant Humphreys Mansion wedding venue is the spot for you! Now, you just need the right person to help you document it. That’s where I come in. As a wedding photographer, I adore working with couples so they can remember every single second of their celebration.
