From the second you drive through the gates, you will be in a world of luxury, complete with lush gardens and mountainside views. No matter what you need for your celebration, this spot is going to make sure you are taken care of! As a Colorado wedding photographer, I spend a lot of time touring the best venues in the area. Here’s what you need to know about a Spruce Mountain Ranch wedding.
14771 Spruce Mountain Road, Larkspur, Colorado 80118
Spruce Mountain Ranch is a private venue located just 30 minutes outside of Denver. Before this was a venue, this space served as a dairy farm dating back to the 19th century. It was passed down from generation to generation until Tom and Lois Ames purchased it in 1999. To this day, the cattle still graze on the grass while celebrations are hosted amidst the countryside. In addition to this authentic touch, your wedding day will have every luxury possible!
This venue is packed with locations where you can host every aspect of your celebration. There are 2 main areas where you can have your wedding, Upper Ranch or Lower Ranch.
At the Lower Ranch space, brides can get ready in the fabulous Wedding Cottage, where you will have plenty of space to get ready. Your partner can get ready in the room inside Albert’s Lodge. At Lower Ranch, there are several options for ceremony, but the most popular spots tend to be in Albert’s Lodge or outside on the Mountainside Site. There are a few other spaces designated for backup options as well if needed. The cocktail hour typically happens in the space between Albert’s Lodge and the cottage, plenty of room to mingle and stay warm if it’s a cooler day in the Colorado Room.
At Upper Ranch, there are two spots where couples can get ready. The groom’s room and the bridal suite are both in the Ponderosa Room area.
Next, it will be time for your ceremony. Trey’s Vista is the most popular outdoor spot that overlooks a beautiful mountain scenes. Alternatively, the Courtyard just outside of the Ponderosa Room can be utilized as well. If you want a covered space for your wedding, The Aspen Room will ensure you can still enjoy all the views while giving you a rustic wooden pergola. Inside, you can use the Spruce Room or the Ponderosa Room. Both of these sophisticated spots pay homage to the mountain surroundings with wood and stone accents.
For your cocktail hour, your guests can head to the Ponderosa Room Courtyard, where they can enjoy cocktails while appreciating this stunning space.
Finally, for your reception, you can use the indoor ceremony spaces in the area. This venue is able to host parties of all sizes, offering space for up to 1,200 guests. Plenty of information is provided on their website, but I highly recommend a tour to really get a feel for the space yourself! The staff is amazing and really accommodating for tours!
With Spruce Mountain Ranch, I highly recommend you take advantage of the views when it’s wedding portrait time! The ceremony sites are going to ensure you have nature-filled backdrops for your photos. The Ames Patio offers a cute stone waterfall that you can use for couples’ portraits. You will also want to spend plenty of time in the dressing suites so you can get candid pictures with your party!
Throughout your Spruce Mountain Ranch wedding day, there will be a property manager on-site to help you out. You will be able to choose from a list of wedding packages that will include tables, chairs, set-up, and clean-up. You will be able to choose from a preferred list for your caterers so you can build your dream meal.
