When it comes to intimate weddings, few venues are doing things like Flagstaff House Restaurant. Located in Boulder, this space is truly one of a kind. From the deck overlooking Flagstaff Mountain to the rustic mid-century exterior, you are about to have the celebration of your dreams! As a Colorado wedding photographer, I spend a lot of time touring the best venues around. Let me tell you what you can expect from a Flagstaff House wedding.
1138 Flagstaff Road, Boulder, Colorado 80302
Before it was one of the best restaurants and wedding venues in the area, The Flagstaff House served as a summer cabin for Hattie Bilchert, a Chicago school teacher. The house was completed in 1929 and then purchased by a park ranger less than a decade later. It was transformed into a restaurant in 1954, and eventually, it was elevated to a fine dining establishment. Each time you step into this house, you can expect a fabulous meal alongside an unforgettable experience.
Flagstaff House Restaurant operates primarily as a venue for your wedding and reception. Because of their layout, they do not offer dressing rooms. Before your wedding starts, you can either get ready at home or you can make a day of it by hosting it in a luxurious hotel nearby. The St. Julien is always a good pick!
For your ceremony, you can use the restaurant deck. This area overlooks the mountains and places you 6,000 feet in the air. You can exchange vows in the corner with the nearby trees offering shade. There are two tiers here to ensure everyone gets a great view!
Following your ceremony, your guests can remain on the deck and enjoy drinks served by the waitstaff. Then, it will be time for your reception. The venue has a ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows so your guests can continue to celebrate without losing out on the view. The venue can also accommodate private outdoor dinner parties. With this restaurant, you can host up to 80 guests for your ceremony and 150 guests for your reception.
With Flagstaff Flagstaff House, there are a number of spots I love for wedding portraits! The balcony is great for getting portraits in front of the mountains. You can also have your photographer (hint, hint!) take pictures from afar so you can stand suspended in the air with your partner. There are easily accessible fields nearby where you can go for intimate portraits. And for pictures of your gown details, the stairs leading up the venue are going to be your spot!
I honestly don’t know what’s better for weddings at Flagstaff House: the views or the food. The chefs are going to hook you up with their trademark culinary experience so your guests can have a meal they remember for years. They do allow amplified music both indoors and out. Additionally, the entire venue is wheelchair accessible.
